Pilze zwischen Theorie, Materialität und Praxis
Students present diverse artistic-research approaches to the world of fungi—from explorations of their ecological potential and current debates in mycoremediation to aesthetic and media-based inquiries into spore prints, fungal pigments, and mycelium as a sustainable material. A sound installation with living fungi by Margarethe Maierhofer-Lischka opens unexpected spaces of thought and perception and invites audiences to encounter fungi on a sensory level.
Grounded in a processual understanding of materiality, perception, and knowledge, fungi are approached as active co-shapers of environments and as relational assemblages. In a pedagogical context, this perspective also sheds new light on practices of collaboration and care: How might strategies of circularity and horizontal learning serve as conceptual models for socio-ecological transformation and for more sustainable educational and design practices?
