Society for Mycelial Studies

The Society for Mycelial Studies is a transdisciplinary association of international researchers and activists dealing with the aesthetic, ecological, epistemological and theoretical potentials of fungi. It addresses actors from the fields of art, institutional research and citizen science to share knowledge, images, experiences, ideas, projects, literature and much more on fungi and to reflect together on ecological challenges, questions of knowledge production and practices of sharing and caring. Professional backgrounds and interests of our members include mycology, lichenology, biology, ecology, forestry, medicine, neurology, psychology, philosophy, art and artistic research, dance, film, design, architecture, mathematics and many more.

Based on the online platform Mycelial Space, the Society aims to bring the currently very widespread, but often still unconnected initiatives around the knowledge of fungi into a fruitful and mutually enriching exchange. Condition for membership is active engagement with issues related to the Society's mission. All members are invited to present activities via the Mycelial Space Blog and to exchange within regular workshops and exhibitions.

Are you interested in joining? We are looking forward to your message!
